ReadSpeaker software makes it possible to read texts on a website aloud. This is an external application that is not managed by Paragin and must therefore be purchased separately.
DocReader is a service from the same provider; this service makes it possible to have PDF files read aloud for example. Currently, only Remindo uses this service.
Settings
The ReadSpeaker customer ID must be entered in the Remindo Player environment to make the software available. This setting can be found under Manage > Settings > Generic tab > External Integrations >ReadSpeaker. Ensure that the ReadSpeaker (and optionally the DocReader) ID is entered.
Use of ReadSpeaker
While taking a test, candidates see the ReadSpeaker options in the upper right corner of the screen: a button to listen directly and a button to open text mode.
If the ‘Read aloud’ button is clicked, a bar with playback options will be displayed at the top of the page. Clicking the button next to it opens a pop-up showing the text mode. This option features plain text, which is highlighted while reading aloud.
If 'Read aloud' is clicked, the menu below will appear in the top bar:
Using this menu, the language/voice can be adjusted, as well as the reading speed.
The candidate can also select a piece of text, after which a menu appears with the option to have the text read aloud.
Tutor and managing roles can use ReadSpeaker when working in the Player environment. The ReadSpeaker icon is always located at the top right of the page; this can be clicked to have the entire page read aloud.
Please note that ReadSpeaker can only be used in the Player environment.
DocReader is available when reading aloud a PDF file associated with a test question. It enables candidates to also have texts included in the file read aloud. Click the Play button at the top of the window to have the document read aloud. It is also possible to select a piece of text and then click play to listen to the selection.
