WCAG stands for "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines"; these are international guidelines developed to make digital content, such as websites and apps, accessible to a wide audience, including people with disabilities. The WCAG guidelines can be found at wcag.com.
Remindo complies with WCAG 2.2 AA for candidate pages and offers the following features:
- Read aloud the test (using Readspeaker or Immersive Reader* integration)
- High contrast
- Various font sizes
- Keyboard navigation
- Support for screen reader tools
Accessibility based on question type and question content
Remindo has no control over accessibility related to question content, but this is also covered by WCAG. The author of the question must take this into account.
Accessibility concerning the content and question type relates to:
- Question structure: For longer questions or case texts, it's important to structure them well using titles, sections, subtitles, and paragraphs.
- Some question types are essentially inaccessible because they can't be answered using just the keyboard and/or because they largely consist of non-textual elements necessary to answer the question.
- Sorting question
- Graphic association question
- Drawing question
- Drag & Drop question
- Hotspot question
- Images must include a sentence or a short paragraph at most that adequately describes the image so that visually impaired people can still answer the question. This text can be added to the image using the question editor. If this isn't possible because the descriptive text is too long or because it compresses the question, an alternative solution must be found.
- To make a test accessible, alternative versions of the test may need to be developed for specific target groups, ideally in collaboration with an expert in testing for these target groups.
Although not covered by the WCAG, the new design of the test take for candidates also includes the option to choose a dyslexia font*.
* The Immersive Reader and the dyslexia font are only available in the new design of the test take. For more information, see Release notes 25.4.
